Mark Spengler is a leader in stakeholder engagement and relationship cultivation. He is a seasoned political, philanthropic and fundraising consultant, a businessman and a designer by training.

He has worked with a wide range of political and philanthropic clients specializing in fundraising, principal collaboration and advising, public engagement, event execution, and strategic communications. In 2015, he founded Swann Street Partners to help clients develop targeted value propositions to engage and activate diverse stakeholders including organization and corporate leaders, candidates and public officials and leaders from funding sectors including high net worth individuals, corporations, grant making foundations and their leadership. A select client roster includes Latino Victory, Whitney for Montana, Big Sky Values PAC, America Works/Friends of Sherrod Brown, The Democratic National Committee, Tammy Baldwin for Senate, The Silverstein Family, and The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund.

In 2020, Spengler helped Mayor Mike Bloomberg and his political team establish the Committee for Mike, which is a cohort of business, philanthropic and political influencers to serve as the Mayor’s leadership council.

In 2019, Spengler served as a Senior Advisor to Governor Steve Bullock’s (D-MT) presidential campaign. He collaborated to build, manage and execute a first-rate presidential campaign fundraising operation. He designed the finance team operations plan, structure and protocols from inception of the campaign, through launch and to close-out. Based in headquarters in Montana, he led coordination with a remote finance team on successful regimen of call time, donor meetings, fundraising travel and events. In this role, Spengler briefed, staffed and traveled with Governor Bullock on a regular basis.

In 2016, Spengler served as the National Director of LGBT Finance at Hillary for America. Based in Brooklyn, he led the LGBT Finance Council and cultivated a broad base of donors and fundraisers. Through the engagement of Secretary Clinton, President Obama, high-profile entertainers and officials, the team conducted events across the country increasing membership in the Council by 500% and raised over $60 million. The result was the largest group of LGBT supporters raising more than any presidential campaign in history.

As a Senior Advisor to the Women’s Heart Alliance, he helped to develop their fundraising plan and expand partnership opportunities with health, medical device and other companies.

Spengler served as the National Fundraising Director for Enroll America, a 501c3 organization dedicated to engaging American consumers and connecting them with quality health coverage through the Affordable Care Act. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President for Development at the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute and as a Finance Consultant to the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Following the completion of a graduate degree in design, he founded a firm specializing in complete project design management, renovation and residential development. His team completed over 50 projects in DC, DE, MD, MN, NY, TX and VA.

Spengler served in several capacities under three consecutive Chairs at the Democratic National Committee. He was the first full time Director of LGBT Outreach for the national Democratic Party. He also served as Midwest Political Director and, during Governor Terry McAuliffe’s Chairmanship, he served as the Director of Constituency Outreach.

Spengler began his career on Capitol Hill as an aide to US Representative Pat Williams, a Democrat from his home state of Montana.

He holds an MA in Design from the Corcoran College of Art & Design and a BA in Political Science from the University of Puget Sound.
